Listening Ministry
The church is open during specific times throughout the week.  At these times people are welcome to come into the church for personnel prayer and meditation. There is also the opportunity to speak to a volunteer. This is not a counselling service but we realise that for many people it is simply having a caring person there who will listen to their story and will pray with the person if desired.

The times for the Listing Ministry are as follows:
Monday10.30 a.m. - 12.30p.m.
Tuesday12.30 p.m. - 2.30 p.m.
Thursday 12.30 p.m. - 2.30 p.m.

Prayer Chain

The Prayer Chain exists to provide a team of people who will respond to emergencies amongst the congregation by offering
immediate prayer for a serious situation.
Stress is laid on the fact that the Chain is used in such circumstances as:
Sudden illness or accident
Bad news and bereavement
Major surgery or other crisis

It is not anticipated that the chain would be used for matters such as a person undergoing routine hospital tests or in the
event of normal personal living

The procedure is as follows: The person requesting prayer, or a relative/friend should email abbey.street@dcmiss.ie  Each member
of the chain will contact the next until all are aware of the need and will be praying. Please do not give a great deal of detail. Be as simple and brief a possible with the infomation,

Prayer will continue during the particular day on which the request is made. As the situation develops, it might be nice if you would inform D.C.M. again so that we could report to others on what has happened.

Children at Abbey Steet Methodist Church

All children remain in the service for around the first twenty minutes. During this time there is a children's story and song. The children then leave with their leaders.

For pre-school children there are a variety of toys and other equipment suitable for the needs of young children.  For primary school aged children, there are two classes covering the 4 -7 and 8 -12 year age group. They use the Scripture Union "Salt Programme", this programme seeks to teach the children more about the Bible and a relationship with Jesus in an interesting and stimulating way.

A further group gives teenagers an opportunity to meet and discuss the practical issues related to their faith.
